Privacy
This page covers the FauxVkTest app and this site, FauxVkDB. Last changed 2026-10-11.
What the app sends, and when
Nothing leaves your device unless you press Upload to FauxVkDB on a report and confirm. Each upload sends:
- The report file as the app wrote it: device manufacturer, model, chip name, Android version and build string, the GPU driver's name and version, and the test results or frame times.
- What the GPU driver says it is, and for a custom driver the SHA-256 of its library file.
- If your device supports it, a key attestation certificate chain from the Android Keystore. It tells the site whether the upload came from an official build of the app on real hardware, and whether the bootloader is locked. It does not contain your name, account, phone number, or a hardware serial number.
- If you are a supporter, your supporter level (one number, 1 to 3), so the site can show your badges beside the report. Nothing about the purchase itself is sent.
The app has no account, no advertising, no analytics, and no location access. It does not read your contacts, files, or other apps.
What this site keeps
- The uploaded report, which is shown publicly on this site and in its JSON export.
- A fingerprint of the upload key (a hash of its public key), to count one install once.
- A keyed hash of your network prefix (the first three parts of an IPv4 address), used for rate limits and to tell independent uploads apart. The address itself is not stored and the hash cannot be turned back into it without a secret only the server holds.
The site counts page views: which page was opened, on which day, and what led to it (the site that linked to it, the kind of page on this site you came from, or a source name the link itself carried). It also counts a search, a click on the Google Play button, on Copy link, and on the feed link. When a search finds nothing, the words searched are kept, up to 40 characters, so the missing device or driver can be added. Only counts are kept. No address, cookie, or identifier is stored with them, and a browser that sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is not counted.
The site sets no cookies. It loads one thing from a third party: Cloudflare Web Analytics, a script from Cloudflare, the company whose network delivers this site. Cloudflare uses it to count visits and page views. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies and does not follow you from site to site.
The Supporter purchase
The app offers one optional purchase, Supporter, at three prices. It is a purchase through Google Play billing. Google handles the payment and keeps the record of it. The app receives no payment details. The only thing about it that reaches this site is your supporter level (a number from 1 to 3), sent with a report you choose to upload and shown as badges beside that report; the site takes the app's word for it and does not ask Google. Each time it starts, the app asks Google Play whether your account owns the purchase, so that a reinstall or a new phone is recognized, and keeps a note on your device that matches Google Play's answer. The app checks Google Play's signature on the purchase on your device; nothing is sent to a server of ours for this. That note stops the support reminder and shows a Supporter badge in the app.
The app has no other way to pay and links to no outside payment page.
Removing a report
Email [email protected] with the report number from its page address, and it will be removed.
